ABS is a common thermoplastic used to make light, rigid, component such as Sheets, in Automobile interiors, passenger bus interiors, refrigerator Vehicles, Ambulances, musical instruments, golf club heads (used for its good shock absorbance), automotive body parts, wheel covers, enclosures, protective head gear.

It is a copolymer made by polymerizing styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of polybutadiene. The styrene gives the plastic a shiny, impervious surface. The butadiene, a rubbery substance, provides resilience even at low temperatures. ABS can be used between -25 and 60 °C. The properties are created by rubber toughening, where fine particles of elastomer are distributed throughout the rigid matrix.

Properties: ABS is derived from acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. The advantage of ABS is that this material combines the strength and rigidity of the acrylonitrile and styrene polymers with the toughness of the polybutadiene rubber. The most important mechanical properties of ABS are resistance and toughness. A variety of modifications can be made to improve impact resistance, toughness, and heat resistance. Stability under load is excellent with limited loads.

Even though ABS plastics are used largely for mechanical purposes, they also have good electrical properties that are fairly constant over a wide range of frequencies. These properties are little affected by temperature and atmospheric humidity in the acceptable operating range of temperatures.

Features: Good Impact Resistance even at zero temperatures. Excellent corrosion resistance over wide thermal range. Light weight with exceptionally high strength to weight ratio, excellent formability, excellent for deep drawing, highly machineable and weldable. Ideally suited to widthstand cracking due to environmental stress. Excellent electrical property. Good abrasion resistance.

Application: Automobile interiors and accessories. Doors, Partitions, Refrigerators, Non conventional energy industries, Sports Industries, Space launch vehicles. Laboratory Industries. Defense equipments, Hard luggage, Telecommunication Industries.

Thickness: 0.5 mm to 10 mm, width : 1500 mm maximum.

Special Features: UV Stabilised, Fire Retardent, High Impact.
